Everything you need to succeed on testing day !

In order to alleviate some stress before your belt test, please read the following pointers, and feel free to leave comments to add to the list or ask questions...

Belt Promotion Exam

Date-MARCH 27th
Times are as follows:

JR. Assessment level (white belts) - 4:20pm
JR. yellow, orange - 4:20pm
JR. green, purple, blue - 5:30pm
JR. red, brown, sr. brown - 6:30pm
ADULT all belts (white-sr. brown) - 7:20pm

  • Please do not be late !!! Try to show up at least 10 minutes early (parents, if you want to get a good seat plan on showing up 15-20 mins early!)
  • Read your student handbooks to know all of your specific belt requirements; the physical stuff and the questions!
  • Wash and iron your uniforms before test day! It always helps to look nice...
  • Practice hard! You need all four stripes (the colored ones) in order to test. Also, practice at home before your test.
  • Turn your test applications and fees in on time!!! If you don't submit an application on time, we can't order your new belt!
  • Don't eat a huge dinner before coming to your test. You want to feel your best so eat a light meal that will give you some energy!
  • Expect to be a little nervous, but don't let it get the best of you!

I'm sure you will all do great so good luck and have fun! Keep practicing hard :)

Kid's and buddies night

I am a kid who has been to the past three years of these sleepovers. I am only nine years old. I hope more people will join Taekwondo. I have been doing Taekwondo since I was five.I am enjoying Taekwondo. The sleepovers are really fun. At the sleepovers you can ... have dinner, play video games, play other kinds of games, watch movies and have snacks.

I hope a lot of kids come because it is more fun that way.The next sleepover is this Friday March 13th,2009.I am just about done with my blog but I want to say right now I am a poom belt in Taekwondo.I will write more soon.

Self-Defense Course

Finally ! USWC Taekwondo is offering self-defense sessions. We've been waiting a long time to implement these courses into our program and I think this will be a great start. I hope as many of you take advantage of this opportunity as possible ! As we've seen recently in the news, it is becoming more and more important for people (yes, even in Vancouver) to learn how to defend themselves. Awareness is becoming necessary and this is a good place to start. Even after studying Taekwondo for 16 years, I'm still not positive I would be able to defend myself if I really needed to... None of us really can be, so I hope this is a priority for all of you! See you in class (:
